On January 6, 2014, Andrea Fantozzi, Director of the Prager Metis US European Team, participated in an informal roundtable presentation to several Italian business leaders about what it takes to start a business in the United States. The event was held at the Manhattan law office of Greenberg Traurig and was conducted completely in Italian.

The presentation was focused on IT start-ups as several attendees were en route to Las Vegas for the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the largest event in the industry. A total of eight presenters discussed topics of special relevance to Italian companies entering the U.S. market.

With his accounting background and years of experience assisting European, and especially Italian-based, firms to expand in the U.S., Andrea was an ideal representative for Prager Metis at the event—especially as Italian is his native language!

“It’s the first time I had participated in an event specifically for the IT environment and I feel it was very successful,” says Andrea. “The informal atmosphere and smaller group size allowed for more focus and a better opportunity to explain our services. “

Andrea’s presentation provided an overview of doing business in America from an accounting standpoint and focused on business structure, tax strategy, banking and obtaining credit, employee benefits and incentive plans, and cultural differences.

This past year, Prager Metis has focused on increasing their number of international business clients. “I feel we are heading in the right direction by doing events such as this,” says Andrea. “I and the entire International Team plan to do more seminars of this kind, both here and in Italy, if possible.”
