Prager Metis Welcomes Jack Brister as New Partner
New York, NY— Prager Metis CPAs, an independent, full-service public accounting and consulting firm with offices in the U.S. and London, welcomes Jack Brister as its newest partner. Brister will be a key member in the firm’s International Tax Division, which provides a full range of tax planning, compliance, and consulting services for foreign companies, trusts, estates and individuals. He will be based out of Prager Metis’ eastside office in New York City.
“Bringing Jack on board is essential for our plans to expand our resources and further strengthen our reputation as the “go to” expert in international taxation,” says David Neste, Co-Managing Partner. “With his extensive background in private international client wealth tax matters, and as a noted authority on the subject, Jack has a unique expertise that few possess. He is a perfect addition for us as his expertise in private international clients nicely complements our services for the international business community.”
Brister is a designated Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and a recognized authority on private client cross-border, foreign financial institution reporting, and international tax issues. He specializes in tax planning and compliance for international wealth structures including foreign trusts, estates and foundations, as well as cross-border tax issues affecting high net worth families and individuals, non-resident alien businesses, and foreign wealth structures with underlying entities. He has been widely published and is a featured speaker on international private client wealth tax matters and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) issues.
In 2013, Brister was selected as one of the top 100 U.S. wealth advisors by the British publication Citywealth Magazine—a prestigious list compiled from nominations within the private wealth management sector and client-based recommendations. This marks the third time in four years that Brister has been named to the list.
Brister joins Prager Metis from MBAF CPAs, LLC where he was Principal of the firm’s International Tax Services, specializing in cross-border tax issues for affluent families and individuals, and concentrating on tax laws governing sophisticated foreign wealth structures for underlying entities, non-resident alien businesses, and individuals
Brister is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and has served as the New York Chapter Treasurer, Board Member of the Foreign Trust Task Force, and Chair of the Technical Comments Committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and serves on their Foreign Trust Task Force. Brister has an M.B.A. in Finance and Tax from Wagner College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Central Washington University.
“Prager Metis has a level of expertise, a growing reputation, and a global presence that is unique for an accounting firm of its size,” says Brister. “Their strategy to expand the International Tax Division, especially for private wealth clients, just fit so well with my background and area of concentration. I’m very excited to join the Prager Metis team.”
